Unit 1

This unit teaches the fundamentals of manipulating space on a 2D canvas to create
a sense of a realism in a picture.

First we learned to work on virtual space.  This picture above shows how space, objects, and mass can be manipulated to give the viewer a sense of realism but yet have a bizarre feel to it.  I liked the fact that we could make our pictures as odd as possible which leaves more room for imagination.

Flattened space is also something we experimented with.  This makes all space look flat as if they were stickers on a wall.  I found this to be the more challenging than exterior and interior virtual space.  But I feel pretty satisfied with the work I did on flattened space so it wasn't too bad.

Virtual Space can be altered in many more bizarre and unreal ways.  Like this picture where the ground is slowly shaping into flying ducks.  Overall I really enjoyed this unit.  I certainly picked up some new skills that can prove really useful in the future.  I look forward to what the rest of the semester has to offer.
